A life with animals was, so to speak, my destiny. Born in the middle of an animal park which my parents managed, I developed a natural familiarity with the most diverse of species which especially instilled within me the necessary respect for living creatures. From the beginning on, dogs too, where a part of that. Various breeds accompanied me throughout the years and broadened my treasure drove of experience with dogs. In the mid-sixties my parents began breeding Schnauzers and Poodles. My sisters and I were fascinatedly swept along right from the beginning and to this day have steadfastly remained so. In addition to this I have held various posts and functions within three breed clubs and have completed my training as a dog-show judge a few years ago. My bloods’ passion however, is firmly entrenched in the breeding of dogs.

I became aware of the breed called Miniature Bull Terrier at the world champion show in 1985 in Tulln. It was love at first sight. I made enquiries about this breed to various breeders in Germany and England. With much luck, I was able to acquire my first Miniature bitch, Ch. Zedbees Zallerina from the well-known breeder Mrs. Diane D. Berry “Zedbees” from England. I was also able – with success – to present my “Sally” at shows and in 1989 I imported a further bitch from Mrs. Berry, Ch. Zeedbees Zindiana.

Finally the day arrived and in 1991 Switzerland’s first Miniature Bull Terrier litter - under the kennel name “Anirella’s” was born. Ch. Zedbees Zindiana with the male Ch. Krakenexis Kingcraft gave birth to six puppies of extraordinary character. Three further litters followed during the years 1993 and 1994. In 1995, I once again imported a hopeful puppy from England. The dog Ch. Tsornin Tshakespeare bread by Mrs. Alex Abrahams developed into excellent represent-ative of his breed.

In the middle of the 90th I suffred a true blow to my small “new generation”. Various dogs from my first and third litters were attacked with an incurable sickness. Through various veterinarial experts I tried to fix the problem and found out that this was only possible via clearly defined health-checks/controls. Since that time, all my dogs are checked to regular health-checks. It seems to me, that because of the limited breeding base of this breed, such measures are of great importance. The success and the positive results of these health-checks have confirmed and rewarded these efforts.

In order to achieve an even wider choice in selecting a breeding partner I would always go to any lengths. In the U.S. I found various breeders who posessed the required sensitivity needed to place the desired emphasis on health. Thus, I was able to direct the experiences I had already made into my breeding. The breeders in England had also developed very interestingly in the last few years. In the future I would follow my trodden path. I would pursue this hobby out of passion without loosing sight of the paramount consideration - the well-being of my dogs.

Since I began with the breeding of Miniature Bull Terrier’s in 1991, I’ve had many moments of drama, success, joy and sadness. I wouldn’t have wanted to miss any of these moments and I hope that I’ll have the fortune of experiencing more of the same in the future.

In the quest for beauty and optical perfection, I placed great importance on the health of my dogs, as well as the virtues of a well-rounded being which posesses the best of characteristics. The many awards that my dogs have earned during the past years shows me that this must be the best way. Even more important however, are the satisfied owners of Anirella’s-Minis who, together with their four-legged companions, can revel in the joy which this breed provides on a day to day basis.
